James Gordon Bennett

About James:

James has been involved in the design and technology field for well over a decade. From the early years of the new media explosion, his expertise in the field has brought about his participation in areas as diverse as the film industry, the manufacturing of advanced military aircraft simulators, and the design of over one hundred web sites.

As an artist he has participated in a number of group shows across the United States as well as being featured in several solo exhibitions.

Currently, James is the Head of the Department for the Interactive Media and Web Development programs at the International Academy of Design and Technology in Tampa, Florida. He is also a full partner in a firm that specializes in developing web sites for the entertainment and professional sports industries.

Behind Fundamentals of Design for New Media:

The concept for this book originated in the search for a design text that would fit the needs of my own students. Although there were plenty of great books on the subject, none seemed to address the topic with interactive media in mind, nor did they take into consideration the learning styles of the kind of students that were attracted to communication through a blend of the artistic and technology.

After examining dozens of texts, I learned that the book these students needed had not yet been written and it might not see print for sometime. For me there was no choice; if I was going to help provide the best education I could, then I would have to write the book myself. (So I did.) - James Bennett
