Behind
Basics of Design: Layout and Typography for Beginners:
This
book was written to help design beginners improve their
pages. Teaching beginning design classes for many years
gave me a good understanding of what was missing in formal
design textbooks. Most design textbooks focus on beautiful
layouts and pages, but lack solid text explanations on why
the featured layouts were “good design”. Basics
of Design was written specifically for design novices to
clearly and simply explain why a design is good (or bad)
and what steps may be taken to improve their designs. My
hope is that readers of this book will quickly and efficiently
gain a working understanding of how to design attractive,
communicative pages.
