Behind MX for Interactive Simulation:

In spite of the big "Flash MX" on the cover, I describe our book as "a methodology book disguised as an advanced Flash book." Its purpose is to teach good, solid software design methodologies for designing and developing interactive, simulation-based e-Learning. Too often, the availability of a technology such as Flash overshadows the main reason we do something, namely to achieve some measurable objectives. In e-Learning and simulation, we see the current landscape as touting product simulations like "flight simulators on the desktop." When the mindset is on creating high-fidelity simulators, and less on how one designs programs to achieve performance improvement using simulations, we will never effectively use technology to its potential. The book emphasizes that good e-Learning is about good instruction, not good simulation. - Jonathan Kaye
