Behind
Exploring 3D Modeling with 3D Studio Max:
At first
glance, this book might appear to be very similar to other
technical books currently on the market, but if you take
a closer look, you’ll notice that this book strives
to do one thing that many other books fail to do…use
language that doesn’t immediately confuse and frustrate
the reader. I like to consider myself a designer who can
wear many hats. In today’s economic climate, a lot
of companies are turning to freelance artists to fulfill
their design needs. Artists are now being required to wear
more hats or fill more shoes.
I wrote this book with those designers in mind. In order
to get a jump start in 3D design and illustration, it’s
much easier (and less intimidating) to pick up a small 300
page book than a mammoth 800+ page technical manual. By
using a simplified approach and using analogies that designers
would understand, the concepts can be digested a little
easier. This book is a perfect starting point for those
individuals who have an interest in 3D art and want to begin
the process of mastering this truly unique and beautiful
craft.
Exploring 3D Modeling with 3DS Max offers simple
and concise exercises that demonstrate core concepts, as
well as dynamic, industry-relevant projects that are sure
to please. The accompanying CD-ROM includes video tutorials
for chapter exercises as well as goodies like free textures.
Whether you are a student, or a professional designer already
in the industry, it is my hope that you find the information
contained in these pages both engaging and entertaining.
After all, learning should be fun. -Steven Till
