Behind
The Graphic Designer’s Digital Toolkit:
After
years of reviewing and teaching from all kinds of books,
I felt there was a need for a book involving “challenging”
fun projects using those common essential tools and functions
in Photoshop, Illustrator, and QuarkXPress. These projects
help to demonstrate what a designer would normally encounter
and most importantly, help to understand the design process
along the way (lacking in many other texts). All the files
needed for the projects and demo versions of the applications
are included on the CD, along with PowerPoint presentations
to serve as chapter reviews.
My favorite cool new tools or functions used in the book:
• Photoshop: The healing brush for retouching images.
• Illustrator: Mapping labels onto any given 3D surface.
Very cool for package designers.
• QuarkXPress: Layout spaces to create multiple layouts
within the same file so you can use the same images and
text.
